Digital Camera with excellent sound quality?
I have an Olympus Fe-330 and the pictures on it are pretty good i guess but when I try to take videos the sound on it is always muffled! so i want a good digital camera that can take hd videos with really good sound.. like for example at a concert.. I want to be able to hear the songs the way they were played.. or where if i was close to big amplifiers and instruments.. i dont want any muffleness xD i just want the sound to be crystal-clear. If anyone has a camera like this i’d like to know.. i mean from personal experience.. not just reviews from the internet. thanks!!! 
Your question is detailed and makes sense! That helps…. You could call Olympus regarding the “muffled” result.
Better yet you sound very particular and detail minded. I can’t imagine that you would happy with anything less than a video camera. However if the concert people “police” video camera usage or rather bar video cameras. Maybe someone on this forum can help you with a still camera that would fit the bill.
That sentence just reminded me of Canon’s Powershot SX-20 camera. the main difference between the SX-20 and its previous model is “enhance” video.

Boggy Depot $7.99 Boggy Depot finds Jerry Cantrell in an interesting position. Unlike most famous musicians launching a solo career, Cantrell is a reluctant solo artist. If he had a choice, it’s clear he would have recorded most of the material on Boggy Depot with Alice in Chains and tour it with the band, but Layne Staley’s inertia, poor health, and personal problems meant that the band couldn’t function as a normal working group. Instead of holing up, Cantrell made a solo album that’s an Alice album by any other name. Everything that an Alice fan has loved, particularly the morose atmosphere and the dark, grinding guitars, is here in spades. There are certain individual touches to be sure — since Cantrell hasn’t been a studio in a while, he feels compelled to drag all the songs out a little bit too long with guitar solos — but it’s not far removed from what he’s done in the past. Boggy Depot doesn’t have the psychological weight of Dirt, Alice’s best album, but it comes close to replicating the sound. I’m a Mountain $17.98 Canadian singer/songwriter Sarah Harmer approaches the music on her third solo release, I’m a Mountain, from a more traditional standpoint, bringing in elements of bluegrass, country, and boogie-woogie to her already-established modern folk sound. The album was recorded in July 2005 in Toronto after a hiking trip on the Niagara Escarpment in southern Ontario. Harmer grew up near the Escarpment, and when she heard about the threat of development there, she and her band decided to hike it to raise awareness over its plight. The song “Escarpment Blues” details this problem effectively, presenting the obvious attachment and love Harmer has for this region and her concern over its future (and using great internal rhymes like “we might get a load of stone for the road”), while staying away from eco-friendly clich? s. The musicianship on the entire album is fantastic, especially the guitar, which ranges in style from Lynyrd Skynyrd-type riffs to bluegrass fingerpicking with a classical bent. Harmer’s lyrics also show this versatility. Topically they deal with many of the same issues folksingers have always sung about, although of course Harmer adds a modern twist, wondering why the woman advertising for Wal-Mart is “laughing so unnaturally,” in the title track, and addressing a victim of AIDS in the lovely “Goin’ Out,” on which her father adds backing vocals. Harmer occasionally falls victim to the folksinger’s greatest vice, the overextended metaphor, but for the most part her lyrics are direct and personal without being too sentimental, and her melodies are tuneful and catchy but not too predictable. Her cover of Dolly Parton’s “Will He Be Waiting for Me” retains the hopeful regret that the original has, and the children’s “Salamandre,” written by her friends Kate Fenner and Chris Brown, is stunning, highlighting Harmer’s clear alto in a way not heard in her folkier songs. Just a Little Lovin’ $11.99 Shelby Lynne has followed her own sometimes reckless, always adventuresome muse throughout her career. Just a Little Lovin’ is her personal homage to the late, legendary Dusty Springfield. Nine of its ten cuts are inextricably linked to the late British vocalist whose sway Lynne came under years ago, but a chance conversation with Barry Manilow — of all people — led to the making of this record. Lynne doesn’t attempt to sound like Springfield. She uses her own phrasing and rhythmic sensibility. Four cuts here come from the Dusty in Memphis period, as well as the title track to The Look of Love and some of her mid-’60s British hits that were not released in America. All these songs, with the exception of the self-penned “Pretend,” were recorded by Springfield. The album was recorded in the Capitol Records studio with Frank Sinatra’s microphone and producer Phil Ramone. Lynne’s aesthetic sense serves her well: most singers automatically shoot for “Son of a Preacher Man,” but Lynne steers clear. She does, however, tackle some truly monolithic Springfield hits: “Just a Little Lovin’,” “Breakfast in Bed,” “Willie and Laura Mae Jones,” and “I Don’t Want to Hear It Anymore.” Lynne’s readings are close, intimate. They’re understated but more direct. Ramone used a small quartet in guitarist Dean Parks, keyboardist Rob Mathes, drummer Gregg Field, and bassist Kevin Axt to give her that edge. Lynne’s delivery takes these songs straight to the listener’s belly. The taut but easy sensuality in her voice adds a very different dimension to them. When she gets to the in-the-pocket feel of “Breakfast in Bed,” she comes at the tune’s subject with an up-front sexual expression — Springfield’s trademark vulnerability is willfully absent. Straight to DVD $15.98 All Time Low? s brand of good-time, loose, and light-hearted emo pop has won them a lot of fans. Their previous album, Nothing Personal, debuted in the upper reaches of the Billboard charts and their live shows are filled with lots of happy fans. As a kind of thank you to them, the band released the live album and DVD Straight to DVD in spring of 2010. It features a raucous live recording of the band running through their hits on a December night in 2009. The sound is crystal clear and both the band and the crowd sound like they are having a blast. Sweet Saxations $17.98 In the 21st century, commercial adult contemporary/smooth jazz radio stations continue to emphasize that which is familiar — actually, they emphasize the overly familiar, making certain that they steer clear of anything that is the least bit experimental. That’s why Pamela Williams and countless others are so predictable and formulaic; they know that taking risks is a good way to alienate adult contemporary programmers. Nonetheless, some of Williams’ albums are better than others — and while Sweet Saxations isn’t very memorable, it isn’t terrible either. The Kenny G.-isms that were part of the picture on some of the saxophonist’s Heads Up recordings of the ’90s aren’t much of a factor on this early 2005 release; outright elevator music is excluded, and Williams’ duskier, more R&B-ish side prevails. One could say that Sweet Saxations finds Williams in a Grover Washington, Jr.-influenced state of mind — minus Mr. Magic’s sense of adventure and spirit of improvisation. The distinctive Washington, for all his commercialism, was a highly imaginative improviser; Sweet Saxations is full of Washington-influenced grooves, but Williams (who sticks to the alto and soprano saxes and doesn’t play any tenor this time) is careful to avoid improvisation. Williams does what Najee and the late George Howard — two people she has often been compared to — have often done: she goes on automatic pilot and reduces Washington’s sound to a formula. The grooves are catchy enough, but Williams’ solos never really go anywhere. One track that tells you a lot about this album is a version of Alicia Keys’ 2003 hit “You Don’t Know My Name”; instead of interpreting the neo-soul gem and making a personal statement, Williams simply offers a note-for-note cover. Turning the Mind $14.98 The sonic cathedrals on Maps’ debut We Can Create suggested that James Chapman had ambition to burn, but the deeply conceptual and personal nature of his follow-up, Turning the Mind, confirms it. From its title onward, Maps’ second album is inspired by the cognitive therapy method Mindfulness, which uses the acceptance of reality to turn negative thoughts into positive ones. It’s also influenced, so to speak, by the effects chemicals can have on the brain to good or ill effect. Chapman explores how drugs and therapy can help or hurt, how they can be crutches or bridges, over the course of Turning the Mind’s mood swings, which certainly sound chemically altered. Working with Death in Vegas’ Tim Holmes as his producer, Chapman opts for a more overtly electronic sound as he charts emotional peaks and valleys. To his credit, Chapman mixes his signals a bit, couching pissed-off lyrics like “I Dream of Crystal”‘s “get the fuck off my case” in billowing clouds of synths. And even though the fittingly named “Nothing” — which is so dark and whispery, it sounds like the echo of a song — and the blissful “Valium in the Sunshine” are more predictable choices, they still work. Turning the Mind provides Chapman with a springboard to try new things. “Let Go of the Fear,” a collaboration with Berlin-based producer Oliver Huntemann, channels the euphoric energy of Chapman’s work into a four-on-the-floor workout. “Die Happy Die Smiling” is even more radical, pairing the most forceful beat ever to appear on a Maps song with streaking synths. Chapman even strips down Maps’ usually lush layers on the urgent “Papercuts,” and to a lesser extent, on “Everything is Shattering,” which makes New Order’s influence on his work crystal clear. At times, Chapman seems in danger of being too earnest or letting his ambitions get the better of him, but Turning the Mind ends up being a significant step forward for Maps’ music. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi |

USED: Achtung Baby $5.99 Reinventions rarely come as thorough and effective as Achtung Baby, an album that completely changed U2′s sound and style. The crashing, unrecognizable distorted guitars that open “Zoo Station” are a clear signal that U2 have traded their Americana pretensions for postmodern, contemporary European music. Drawing equally from Bowie’s electronic, avant-garde explorations of the late ’70s and the neo-psychedelic sounds of the thriving rave and Madchester club scenes of early-’90s England, Achtung Baby sounds vibrant and endlessly inventive. Unlike their inspirations, U2 rarely experiment with song structures over the course of the album. Instead, they use the thick dance beats, swirling guitars, layers of effects, and found sounds to break traditional songs out of their constraints, revealing the tortured emotional core of their songs with the hyper-loaded arrangements. In such a dense musical setting, it isn’t surprising that U2 have abandoned the political for the personal on Achtung Baby, since the music, even with its inviting rhythms, is more introspective than anthemic. Bono has never been as emotionally naked as he is on Achtung Baby, creating a feverish nightmare of broken hearts and desperate loneliness; unlike other U2 albums, it’s filled with sexual imagery, much of it quite disturbing, and it ends on a disquieting note. Few bands as far into their career as U2 have recorded an album as adventurous or fulfilled their ambitions quite as successfully as they do on Achtung Baby, and the result is arguably their best album. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi |

USED: I’m a Mountain $9.98 Canadian singer/songwriter Sarah Harmer approaches the music on her third solo release, I’m a Mountain, from a more traditional standpoint, bringing in elements of bluegrass, country, and boogie-woogie to her already-established modern folk sound. The album was recorded in July 2005 in Toronto after a hiking trip on the Niagara Escarpment in southern Ontario. Harmer grew up near the Escarpment, and when she heard about the threat of development there, she and her band decided to hike it to raise awareness over its plight. The song “Escarpment Blues” details this problem effectively, presenting the obvious attachment and love Harmer has for this region and her concern over its future (and using great internal rhymes like “we might get a load of stone for the road”), while staying away from eco-friendly clich? s. The musicianship on the entire album is fantastic, especially the guitar, which ranges in style from Lynyrd Skynyrd-type riffs to bluegrass fingerpicking with a classical bent. Harmer’s lyrics also show this versatility. Topically they deal with many of the same issues folksingers have always sung about, although of course Harmer adds a modern twist, wondering why the woman advertising for Wal-Mart is “laughing so unnaturally,” in the title track, and addressing a victim of AIDS in the lovely “Goin’ Out,” on which her father adds backing vocals. Harmer occasionally falls victim to the folksinger’s greatest vice, the overextended metaphor, but for the most part her lyrics are direct and personal without being too sentimental, and her melodies are tuneful and catchy but not too predictable. Her cover of Dolly Parton’s “Will He Be Waiting for Me” retains the hopeful regret that the original has, and the children’s “Salamandre,” written by her friends Kate Fenner and Chris Brown, is stunning, highlighting Harmer’s clear alto in a way not heard in her folkier songs. USED: Primera Fila [DVD] $7.99 Given the depth of his discography, which extends all the way back to the 1960s and includes innumerable releases, it’s surprising that Primera Fila is the first live album of Vicente Fern? ndez’s illustrious career. Released as the follow-up to Para Siempre (2007), his chart-topping collaboration with songwriter Joan Sebastian, Primera Fila indeed puts you in the front row for an intimate performance of favorites new and old at the ranchera legend’s personal concert arena, El Centro de Espect? culos Vicente Fern? ndez G? mez in “Guadalajara,” Mexico. Beginning fittingly enough with “El Rey,” the in-concert CD/DVD features Fern? ndez performing roughly two dozen songs alongside the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra. Highlights include a few songs from Para Siempre: “El Ultimo Beso,” “Para Siempre,” and “Estos Celos.” The latter two are particularly delightful, as they’re sequenced back to back toward the finale of the concert and include lively participation by the crowd, which sings and claps along with evident glee. Also especially well received is “Guadalajara,” which leads into the show-closing performance of the song “Gracias.” Recommended as a best-of complement, if not a supplement, to the two-volume Historia de un Idolo series, Primera Fila boasts not only a wide range of Fern? ndez’s greatest hits, but also crystal-clear sound quality on a par with any of his studio recordings. USED: See the Morning $7.99 It’s quite possible that Chris Tomlin’s fourth studio album is the one that firmly seals his place as the ultimate innovator in praise & worship music. His first three solo efforts (plus 2005′s Live from Austin Music Hall) had effectively made his name synonymous with the subgenre that directs songs to God, not just about Him. Tomlin’s confident, clear vocals are at their pinnacle, as is his songwriting and collaboration, and his backing band does a superb job rounding out the dense sound. Producer Ed Cash returns at the controls to lend the album a transparent sheen that gives it a final sense of accessibility. There are no low points; each track consistently evokes adoration. Tomlin tried out the first single (the contagiously buoyant “Made to Worship”) and several others while touring in support of Arriving, his extremely well-received effort from 2004. Surprisingly it’s the mid-tempo numbers like “Everlasting God” and “Let Your Mercy Rain” that define the sound on See the Morning, not the electrifying crowd-pleasers like “Let God Arise” and “Awesome Is the Lord Most High.” Tomlin closes the album with a brilliantly personal arrangement of “Amazing Grace,” penning a new bridge that fits well with the time-honored poetry of the original. USED: Songs in Red and Gray $2.99 In musical terms, it is less significant that Mitchell Froom is no longer Suzanne Vega’s husband than it is that he is no longer her producer. Although Froom’s experimental style helped the singer/songwriter fulfill her desire to expand beyond her folk-pop roots on her fourth and fifth albums, 99 F? and Nine Objects of Desire, his approach actually worked against the material, cluttering her intimate, direct songs with inappropriate percussion tracks and various kinds of sound processing. So, listeners who responded strongly to her first three albums but found the Froom discs off-putting (and there were plenty of them) should be alerted that, sonically, Songs in Red and Gray is ready to welcome back old fans. Produced by Rupert Hine, it has the kind of carefully played acoustic guitar work and close-up vocal miking that characterized Suzanne Vega and Solitude Standing. That makes it easier to appreciate Froom’s departure from Vega’s personal life as well as her professional one, however. This is very much a divorce album, its songs frequently touching on romantic discord and the resulting fall-out. Vega is both precise and artful in describing the situation. She writes by metaphor, unafraid, on “Machine Ballerina,” for example, to mix those metaphors and pile them up. That allows her some emotional distance, but never at the expense of meaning. Her concern with the dissolution of her marriage and its impact on her child is apparent in “Soap and Water” when she sings, “Daddy’s a dark riddle/Mama’s a headful of bees/you are my little kite /carried away in the wayward breeze,” even though the lines make up a succession of metaphors. USED: THE CROSSING $6.99 With producer Steve Lillywhite at the helm, Scotland’s Big Country managed to deliver earnest, socially conscious arena anthems in a similar vein to U2 and the Alarm. The twist was their trademark bagpipe sound, achieved through the use of E-Bow. The unique sound of “In a Big Country” garnered the band considerable attention and a Top 20 single in the U.S. The Crossing, however, is an album whose richness goes beyond the single. The more subdued “Chance” is more sparse and its personal lyrics are every bit as heartfelt as the more populist-inclined anthems like the wonderful “The Storm” or the thundering “Fields of Fire.” The lyrics are straightforward and, despite the grand themes of many of the tracks, manage to steer clear of being overly pretentious. While this album earned the band a gold record, Big Country’s sound and image (reinforced by the members tartan, checked shirts) resulted in them being tagged a novelty and they never duplicated their initial success in America. ~ Tom Demalon, All Music Guide |

USED: Voice of the Spirit, Gospel of the South $7.99 This project began as an exploration of traditional Appalachian gospel songs, the kind of territory that A.P. Carter and the Carter Family made their own when they started their recording career in the ’20s, but as the sessions went on, the focus expanded until Voice of the Spirit, Gospel of the South ended up a more general survey of a variety of Southern gospel approaches as seen through the eyes of contemporary country, gospel, and bluegrass artists. The Carter Family starting point was no accident, though, since the producer here is John Carter Cash, who just happens to be the son of June Carter and Johnny Cash, placing him well in the line of legacy. John Carter Cash coaxed Johnny into the studio in June of 2003 to track a song for the project, “Uncloudy Day,” which ended up being not only the one song Johnny Cash recorded after June died, but was the last song he was to record at all. As such, “Uncloudy Day” is a particularly simple, direct, and unadorned capstone to a remarkable career. Cash’s vocal, sounding fragile in spots, is made even more poignant for being his last, but there is a certainty in its timbre that makes the song sound ultimately (if heartbreakingly) hopeful. Another clear highlight is Mavis Staples’ (with help on guitar from Marty Stuart) stark and bluesy version of “Twelve Gates to the City,” but arguably the two most striking tracks are a pair of songs written by George Washington Phillips, “Denomination Blues” and “What Are They Doing in Heaven Today?” Phillips, a zither-playing blues preacher who recorded in the late ’20s, possessed an uncanny ability to write songs that unwound with almost conversational melody lines, and his sung sermons were as much or more meditations on his personal philosophy as they were exercises in accepted religious dogma. Rodney Crowell’s version here of “Denomination Blues” and Vince Gill’s take on “What Are They Doing in Heaven Today?” both retain the flow and feel of the original recording… |

War $10.99 Opening with the ominous, fiery protest of “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” War immediately announces itself as U2′s most focused and hardest-rocking album to date.
