How to convince the orthopedist to give me a cast?
Three weeks ago, I severely sprained my ankle while dancing/jumping. The ER doctor just took x-rays, but didn’t physically look at it. It was extremely swollen, and I know that sometimes if it is too swollen, it can block the view of a break on the x-ray. The doctor put me in an ace wrap and a foam padded brace thing. I am also on crutches. The doctor told me for 6-8 weeks. Three weeks have passed and it’s still swollen and i’m still in pain. Also, my leg is extremely itchy when the wrap/brace is on and off. I will take it off and I scratch my leg raw and bloody. It is so uncomfortable. I am going to the orthopedic surgeon on the 22nd. How do I convince him to give me a cast? Even if it’s still only a sprain? Thank you.
It sounds like more than a sprain. He should take exrays in his office with you weight bearing your body weight. (standing in various positions)
Sounds like you may have contact dermatitis with the foam. Are you wearing a sock between you and the air boot? I got one yesterday for a bone break, and it really helps…
